About the Job:
The Anesthesia Tech will perform a variety of activities in support of Anesthesia personnel and ancillary Operating Room personnel while providing a safe environment for the administration of anesthesia care. The incumbent will maintain the supportive continuum of safe anesthesia administration in Labor & Delivery, Urology, Radiology, Cardiac Cath, and Mobile Diagnostic Technology; will ensure the cleanliness of equipment and support patient safety by performing routine equipment checks; and will function as an essential member of the Operating Room team, promoting a professional, respectful, and efficient work and patient care environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Maintain inventory of anesthesia supplies and record pertinent stock data for verification and justification of budget. Maintain equipment cleanliness and ensure patient safety by performing routine equipment checks. Clean and care for all reusable and/or contaminated equipment according to established standards/policies and procedures.
- Check the anesthesia machine for all necessary equipment and supplies, including, but not limited to, laryngoscopes, gases, suction, CO2 sensor and cable, anesthesia circuit and mask, endotracheal tube, nasal oxygen, soda lime. Check and replace gas cylinders, as needed. Notify the Clinical Leader when problems are identified.
- Responsible for the set-up, care, and maintenance of all anesthesia equipment. Assist anesthesia staff by obtaining and setting up specialty equipment for procedures as requested.
- Perform routine maintenance and calibrations as specified by the manufacturer and approved by the Biomedical Engineering Department.
- Clean, change filters, and reassemble anesthesia equipment, checking all equipment and alarms for proper functioning between all cases daily.
- Restock anesthesia cart and anesthesia machine according to procedures.
- Work collaboratively with the hospital Purchasing and Biomedical Engineering Departments to arrange for preventative maintenance, scheduling of service contract QC inspections/repairs, as well as emergency repairs and requests for loaner equipment, as needed.
- Assist in maintaining an environment that consistently meets all safety, infection control, and quality standards, and take appropriate action to correct hazards. Perform room clean-up according to established standards relative to decontamination and disposal of hazardous waste. Dispose of unused IV’s according to hospital policy and procedures.
- Maintain supply of personal protective equipment and ensure proper handling of sharps containers, soiled linen, and trash.
- Provide support to Anesthesiologists, CRNAs, and Registered Nurses to ensure collaborative, safe, and efficient patient care processes. Assist licensed staff with the transfer of patients to stretchers, beds, and/or operating tables.
- Ensure a professional, respectful, and effective patient care and working environment through consistent use of appropriate interpersonal and communication skills. Carry out all patient interactions in a manner that considers the age-specific needs of the patient.
- Function as an integral member of the Operating Room team, demonstrating initiative and willingness to assist others to meet desired outcomes. Demonstrate positive customer relations skills that promote a positive image of the department.

- Work must be performed on-site.
- Cover for absences by rotating or working extra shifts, with the requirement to assume assignments in other areas to meet patient needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Who You Are:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical Technician Certification from the State of New Hampshire is required, unless another current NH state license is held.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certificate required.
- Previous experience in an Operating Room setting preferred.
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with adult patients, geriatric patients, occasional infants, pediatric and adolescent patients, families, coworkers, physicians, and staff from other departments
- Ability to plan and perform diversified duties requiring basic knowledge of a variety of clinical tasks and the use of a wide range of procedures.
- Ability to exercise some judgment in the analysis of facts and conditions regarding individual problems or transactions to determine what actions should be taken within the limits of standard practice
