Elliot Health System - Director, Major Gifts - Mary & John Elliot Charitable Foundation - Full Time

Position Summary:
With the partnership and direction of the Vice President/Chief Philanthropy Officer (Mary & John Elliot Charitable Foundation), the Director of Major Gifts will be responsible for the strategic implementation and stewardship of the major gift fundraising program for the Mary & John Elliot Charitable Foundation. The major gift strategy includes donor identification, cultivation, and stewardship for leadership giving in support of Elliot Health System. This role will also support the implementation of our legacy gift program and support capital campaign needs in partnership with the Vice President/Chief Philanthropy Officer.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Implement a comprehensive strategy for major gifts ($50k+), principal gifts, and planned giving to meet both annual fundraising goals and capital campaign targets.
- Create plans to achieve metrics and KPIs for portfolio management and revenue generation.
- Work collaboratively with the VP/Chief Philanthropy Officer, MJE Foundation colleagues, MJE Foundation Board members to implement a program that is data-driven, highly collaborative to achieve/surpass annual and campaign fundraising goals, as well as cultivate plans for continued donor engagement and outreach.
- Partner with the Annual Giving and Donor Relations Manager to create comprehensive solicitation and donor engagement strategies that support mutually shared goals.
- Work with the Foundation team to continuously analyze prospect and donor data and identify new opportunities, track progress toward goals, and refine team strategies for maximum impact.
- Collaborate with the Philanthropy Operations Specialist, MJE Events team, and when appropriate, the system Marketing and Communications team to develop and implement compelling and impact-driven donor communications, stewardship, and events.
- Develop the skills and capabilities of all direct reports and create a culture of curiosity, mentorship, teamwork, excellence, and accountability.
- Serve as a member of the MJE Foundation team contributing to strategy and planning on all development initiatives, programs, and functions, both short and long-term.
- Advise on data and reports required to demonstrate results, and provide information for internal and external reporting and communications. Maintain an environment of transparency and information sharing.
- Support volunteer and campaign-related committees as necessary.
Essential Job Functions:
Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward gifts of $50,000+ from an active portfolio of approximately 100 prospects, with gift capacity ratings of $100K-$10M+.
Conduct 8-10 donor visits monthly; complete a minimum of 10 solicitations annually.
Support capital campaign program as needed
Build customized donor stewardship strategies and solicitation proposals.
Identify new major gift sources and serve as a knowledge source for funding opportunities and philanthropic outlets.
Maintain current knowledge of national and international funding environments and trends as they relate to the Mary & John Elliot Charitable Foundation and Elliot Health System mission and programs.
Positions Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree (MPA) or other similar degree preferred
Licensure: CFRE preferred
Experience: 10 years of frontline fundraising experience, within healthcare a plus. At least 3 years of proven track record of major gift work ($50K and above) required OR 10+ years of frontline fundraising experience, within healthcare a plus. At least 5 years of proven track record of major gift work ($500K and above) preferred.
Knowledge: Database management; financial management software experience required. Blackbaud and Workday experience preferred.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week; 9am to 5pm
