Lab Assistant Satellite Lab Point of Care Technician – Elliot Lab at Amoskeag Health 145 Hollis St Manchester NH | Hours will vary - 8AM-5PM Monday-Friday and 7:45AM-12:15PM Saturday Sunday to total 32 hours a week. Required every 3rd weekend coverage (both days).

The Satellite POC Technician- Phlebotomist provides accurate Point of Care (POC) laboratory test data to appropriate testing personnel to assist them in making the correct medical decisions for their patients. The Satellite POC Technician - Phlebotomist is responsible for overseeing the laboratory drawing station POC testing area at the Elliot Laboratory at Amoskeag Health.

What You’ll Do

• The technician gathers patient demographic information and registers all patients and patient specimens requiring laboratory services in the appropriate system. Accurately identifies patient at time of collection according to policy in all settings and labels all specimens in the presence of the patient.

• Performs routine and advanced venipuncture using standard precautions according to department standards on all age groups.

• Performs routine and stat capillary collections on all age groups.

• Is knowledgeable and can communicate the instructions for both blood and non-blood specimen collection and handling.

• Accurately performs computerized clerical duties, verifying and or placing orders, obtaining work lists, and documentation of all collections.

• Prepares specimens for processing, operates centrifuges, aliquot samples, and completes documentation associated with the tests ordered.

• Performs, documents, and reports/results all point of care tests in an accurate and timely manner.

• Facilitates delivery of specimens to the appropriate areas in the laboratory within established timelines keeping all samples in appropriate conditions to ensure quality.

• Assists in the resolution of problems/issues relating to phlebotomy, processing and testing at Amoskeag Health.

What You’ll Need

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree in Health Science preferred. ASCP Certification in phlebotomy or other lab function preferred.
