Elliot Rehabilitation Services outpatient department consists of 8 clinics across the greater Manchester area. We offer physical, occupational and speech services across a multitude of specializations including orthopedics, neurological, pelvic floor, vestibular, geriatrics, pediatrics and oncology. About the Job
The Medical Assistant/Patient Service Representative is responsible for performing delegated clinical and administrative functions in the care of patients, under the direct supervision of a Provider and the Practice Manager. They serve in both clinical and administrative roles based on the Practice’s staffing needs.
What You’ll Do
- Participates in the care of patients in person, via telephone (phone screening) and telehealth modalities under supervision of the Provider(s), in accordance with professional standards (e.g., AAMA Core Values and Code of Ethics) and scope of practice as defined by applicable State laws.
- Performs clinical functions delegated by Provider(s) and Registered Nurses, including administering prescribed medications, treatments & immunizations, point-of-care testing, and collection/handling of specimens, within appropriate scope of practice as defined by applicable State laws and regulations.
- Performs administrative functions assigned by the Practice Manager, which may include appointment check-in/check-out, scheduling, telephone operator, medical records (including scanning and indexing), or other duties as assigned.
- Collects and screens history and health-related information from patients and communicates findings to the Provider(s).
- Communicates Provider advice/instructions and plans of care to patients.
- Documents care activities in the medical records including procedures, interventions, patient/family communication, and test results with accuracy and detail.
- Assists with pre-visit preparation to prepare the Practice team for scheduled patient encounters, obtaining needed documentation, coordinating pre-visit testing, performing patient outreach communication, and identifying preventive or other medical services due in collaboration with Nurses and Providers.
- Participates in mentoring and training new staff, as directed and supervised by the Provider(s) and Practice Manager.
- Accepts and completes all other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need
High School diploma or GED. Completion of a Medical Assistant Program or 3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant required. Associates Degree or Completion of a clinical externship preferred. Current BLS/CPR certification. Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA-AAMA) preferred.
