Elliot Health Systems - Clinical Lab Assistant - Phlebotomist - Travelers Department - Full Time

4:15a-1030a, 32 hours a week, 5 days a week, standard weekend/on-call/holiday rotation. This position requires use of your own vehicle to travel to facilities to perform labs, own motor vehicle insurance and a good driving record.
About the Elliot Lab
The Elliot Hospital Laboratory is a full-service laboratory offering both Clinical
and Anatomical Pathology testing. The Clinical Laboratory operates 24 hours/day,
7 days/week offering both stat and routine testing. The Anatomical Pathology
department operates Monday- Friday 7 am to 4 pm.
We conveniently provide services to patients and the community with 5 walk-in labs located in Manchester, Bedford, Hooksett and Londonderry. We also service 60 nursing homes and assisted living facilities in the area.
POSITION SUMMARY
You will travel to the nursing homes and assisted living facilities we service to preform lab services. The phlebotomist is responsible for the collection, ordering verification, labeling, handling, transportation and documentation of patient specimens in a variety of locations. Ensures that both the patient and the laboratory are provided with all necessary information, and that the patient is comfortable and safe.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Accurately identifies patient at time of collection according to policy in all settings and labels all specimens in the presence of the patient.
- Performs routine and advanced venipuncture using standard precautions according to department standards in a variety of locations and on all age groups.
- Performs routine and stat capillary collections in a variety of settings on all age groups.
- Accurately performs computerized clerical duties, verifying and or placing orders, obtaining work lists, and documentation of all collections.
- Prepares specimens for processing, operates centrifuges, aliquot samples, and completes documentation associated with the tests ordered.
- Facilitates delivery of specimens to the appropriate areas in the laboratory within established timelines keeping all samples in appropriate conditions to ensure quality.
Education and Experience Needs
High School diploma or equivalent required. Phlebotomy course or phlebotomy experience required. Laboratory clinical support and/or medical experience and/or data entry experience preferred.
Valid driver’s license required and must be maintained throughout duration of appointment in position. Motor vehicle background report will be conducted. Must maintain automobile insurance coverage at established EHS minimum throughout duration of employment required.
