Position Summary - per diem
Responsible for daily operations of the ultrasound department, patient schedule, equipment maintenance, the report of equipment failures, and quality assessment. Responsible for the independent operation of diagnostic medical equipment to expose various Ob/Gyn conditions, and for performing and communicating results of diagnostic examinations using sonography.
Key Responsibilities
Prepares patients for examinations and explain procedures to patients while performing studies.
Correlation of the clinical history with the test to be performed.
Consults with the referring physician regarding patient’s pervious history and decision of appropriate ultrasound procedure required when necessary.
Performs ultrasound studies for a variety of conditions ranging from routine Ob/Gyn to high risk Obstetrical scans to include (not limited to) nuchal translucency, fetal anatomy survey, limited fetal echocardiography, Doppler studies including MCA and ductus venosus, biophysical profile and endovaginal scans.
Operates complex ultrasound equipment pertinent to department needs, m-mode, doppler, real time and all related recording systems.
Selects proper transducer and frequency for performance of examination.
Performs ultrasound examinations during surgical procedures.
Participates in reading session with physician and contribute technical and professional knowledge to the final diagnostic impression or report.
Education/Experience/Licensure
Education: Associates Degree or certification in a diagnostic medical sonography program required.
Experience: Two (2) to three (3) years of experience in OB/Gyn ultrasonography preferred.
Certification/Licensure: Must be ARDMS in Ob/Gyn and NT certified.
